Ethiopia Banko Gotiti
What We Taste: Jammy Mango Plum Vanilla Caramel
Banko Gotiti is a village in the Gedeb district of Ethiopia's Gedeo Zone, where Yirgacheffe is located. The Banko Gotiti farming cooperative is made up of about 300 local farming members, and separated from the larger Worka cooperative in 2012. They grow a mixture of 'heirloom' varietals.
Each of the local members in the cooperative runs a smallhold farm, where they will also grow other crops, so the coffee trees are typically shade grown. Farming in Ethiopia is organic by default as pesticides and fertilser are not utilised, in part because they are simply not available. The ripe coffee cherry is hand picked and then delivered to a central washing station where the coffee is sorted and processed, and then dried on raised beds.
This Ethiopia Banko Gotiti is a syrupy sweet bright, clean and juicy cup of jammy mango and plums, with a mellow vanilla and caramelised finish.
Available for either espresso or filter coffee brewing.
