Colombia Las Flores
Tastes Like: Peach Strawberry Grapefruit
The Las Flores farm was begun in 1990 by the Vergara family, in a region renowned for excellent coffees. Each year since inception they planted more coffee trees, until they reached 90,000 on their 14 hectare property. In 2006 the Las Flores farm began participating in the Cup of Excellence competitions, which started their interest in a specialty coffee focus. Now the farm is three generations on, owner Edilberto Vergara, along with his son Johan, have begun to adjust production and improve their post-harvest processes, and have implemented fermentation processes and exotic varieties of coffee. This coffee is the highly sought after and quite rare pink bourbon, which can exhibit bright and fruity characteristics like a traditional Ethiopian coffee may do.
Colombia Las Flores is a bright and punchy coffee with an acid intensity like a white wine, and tropical fruits in the cup such as peach, strawberries and oranges. The finish is more subdued with notes of pecans and walnuts.
Available for either espresso or filter coffee brewing.
